3. Adoration of the Infant Jesus by the Shepherds: Gift of Third Order of Secular Franciscans. The Incarnation of Christ shows God's poverty. The Creator becomes the creature because of poverty and dwells with the poor and ordinary people, symbolized by the shepherds. There was no room in
the inn in Bethlehem, so when Christ was born His Mother wrapped Him in swaddling
clothes and laid him in a manger. An angel appeared to the shepherds in the
fields to announce the good news. The shepherds let their fields to pay homage
to the Infant Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. |
